8700 Miles to My Dinner Table??

Today I received an email inviting me to subscribe to a program (for $180/year!) where I could get a discount (and $80 shipping credit on each order) for beef “sourced from ethical farms within the world’s best regions for raising beef.” Which are? According to Herd and Grace, those regions are Southern Australia and Tasmania, more than 8700 miles away. What???

What happened to local and regional food? What happened to the 100-Mile Diet? What happened to buying our food from a neighbor?

Obviously, they don’t take Montana into consideration at all. We have “ethical ranchers” here raising pastured beef that is sustainably raised, has amazing flavor, is reasonably priced, and does NOT come with a huge carbon footprint for transportation.

You don’t have to eat at the world’s greatest restaurants or give yourself a “gift of world-class luxury!” You can buy meat from livestock born and raised on Montana pastures and only grass-fed their entire lives from ranchers just a short drive from home.

Who needs beef from Tasmania or lamb from New Zealand or Great Britain? We’ve got great beef and lamb right here in Montana.

Give Tim at XX Bar Ranch, Helena, or Brian at C-5 Organics, Cardwell, a call. While you’re at it, call Dave and Jenny at Montana Highland Lamb, Whitehall, for equally amazing lamb. We’ve eaten meat raised by each of these providers and highly recommend it.
